2026 Postgraduate Day: Researching Vulnerability in Law Enforcement & Public Health

Postgraduate students attending the LEPH2026 conference are invited to join the conference’s postgraduate day, taking place from 9.30am – 5pm on Saturday 5 September 2025 in Leeds (venue TBC).

GLEPHA and the Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre will co-host the free, full-day postgraduate workshop, bringing together emerging scholars working at the intersection of law enforcement and public health. The day is designed to build capability, confidence, and community among law enforcement and public health postgraduate researchers whose work engages with vulnerability—including experiences of marginalisation, trauma, harm, and structural disadvantage—and its implications for policing, health, and safety.

Through a mix of interactive workshops and focused masterclasses, participants will:

  • Refine research questions, methods, and analytical frameworks relevant to vulnerability-focused LEPH research.
  • Engage with leading academics and practitioners to explore ethical, community-engaged, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Develop strategies for translating research into policy, practice, and impact.
  • Strengthen their professional networks and form collaborations with peers facing similar conceptual and methodological challenges.

There will be opportunities for students to present and/or discuss their individual projects. The postgraduate day aims to create a supportive, practical learning environment that equips early-career researchers to navigate the complexities of LEPH scholarship and to contribute to evidence-informed, socially responsive research on vulnerability.
